Wisconsin Science Festival

Scientists participating in the NSF-funded project On-the-Spot-Feedback: On-the-Spot Assessment to Improve Scientist Engagement with the Public (award #1811022) had a chance to try out audience feedback tactics during the Wisconsin Science Festival in October. The project, a collaboration of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, Portal to the Public at the Institute for Learning Innovation, the STEM Research Center at Oregon State University, and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, has developed a set of embedded feedback tactics delivered through professional development to support science-based professionals in effectively communicating science to the public. As part of the project researchers at the STEM Research Center are working with scientists to better understand how scientists are adapting and changing through the use of the tactics as they engage and interact with their audience during public engagement with science events.
