Dr. Heather Fischer and Dr. Martin Storksdieck are leading the evaluating of the L’SPACE academy. The Lucy Student Pipeline Accelerator and Competency Enabler (L’SPACE) Virtual Academy is a new student collaboration program with NASA’s Lucy Mission to Jupiter’s Trojan Asteroids. This interactive, team and project-based, 12-week program is designed to engage a diverse population of college/university science and engineering students in rigorous, project-based STEM workforce development.
The NASA L’SPACE Virtual Academy gives participants the opportunity to learn NASA mission procedures and protocols from mission professionals. Students learn, practice, and hone collaboration and communication skills as they work on team projects with science and engineering students from across the country on geographically distributed teams.
Currently, this program is being piloted at Arizona State University with students from all over the country. The OSU team is evaluating the program and its potential to expand to other universities and NASA missions.
